OUR APPROACH TO COOKIES AND TRACKING
LikeFury Ltd, doing business as GetPublicIP ("we", "us"), takes a minimalist approach to cookies and tracking. We do not use third-party advertising or marketing trackers, we do not sell or share your data with advertisers, and we do not build cross-site profiles. This notice summarises exactly what we do use. It forms part of our Privacy Policy.
No cookie consent banner is required for our site because we do not set any non-essential cookies or access any non-essential information on your device.
1. WHAT WE USE
Session cookies (strictly necessary)
While you are signed into the dashboard, our backend sets a session cookie and a CSRF cookie. These are required for authentication and for protecting the form-submission flow against cross-site request forgery. They are deleted when you sign out or when your session expires. You cannot opt out of these while using the authenticated dashboard.
Plausible Analytics (self-hosted, cookieless)
We run our own instance of Plausible at analytics.getpublicip.com. Plausible does not set any cookies, does not collect personal data, does not build cross-site profiles, and does not transfer your data to any third party. It counts page views and referrers in aggregate only, using a 24-hour rotating hash that cannot be used to identify you across sessions.
Altcha CAPTCHA (no cookies)
Our sign-up and contact forms use Altcha, a proof-of-work CAPTCHA that runs entirely in your browser. Altcha does not set cookies, does not access your device storage, does not track you, and does not build a browser fingerprint.
2. WHAT WE DO NOT USE
We do not use and have never used:
- Google Analytics
- Facebook Pixel or Conversions API
- LinkedIn Insight Tag
- Twitter / X Pixel
- TikTok Pixel
- Hotjar, FullStory, or other session-replay tools
- Advertising remarketing or retargeting tags of any kind
- Cross-site tracking cookies or third-party advertising identifiers
- Browser fingerprinting libraries for advertising or analytics
We do not sell, rent, or share your information with advertisers or data brokers.
3. CONTROLLING COOKIES IN YOUR BROWSER
You can block or delete cookies in your browser at any time. Blocking the session cookie will sign you out of the dashboard and prevent you from signing back in. All other cookies listed in section 1 are optional to our service working (they are either not cookies at all, or are ephemeral).
Browsers offer the following controls:
- Chrome: Settings → Privacy and security → Cookies and other site data
- Firefox: Settings → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data
- Safari: Preferences → Privacy → Manage Website Data
- Edge: Settings → Cookies and site permissions → Manage and delete cookies and site data
